Virtual Education Session – Research on Gastrointestinal Involvement in Scleroderma (Mar 4, 2023)

This month we will be discussing ‘Research on Gastrointestinal Involvement in Scleroderma‘.

Join us for our March Virtual Education Session presented by Scleroderma Victoria with Dr Alannah Quinlivan, our Harrison Pennicott Scholarship recipient, who will present her latest research on “Gastrointestinal Involvement in Systemic Sclerosis”.

The study was undertaken looking at the number of Australian Systemic Sclerosis patients suffering from gastrointestinal involvement and how these symptoms impacted their quality of life, physical function, mood and energy levels.

Alannah will take us through the findings of her research, with the study using information from 1640 Systemic Sclerosis patients participating in the Australian Scleroderma Cohort Study. Her hope is that this work will raise awareness of the frequency of gastrointestinal symptoms. Additionally, her data shows that proper treatment of reflux can improve survival in Systemic Sclerosis, particularly in those with both reflux and ILD.

We look forward to you joining us!
